At prayingsingles.net we think so.
Our Purpose Statement: To minister and witness to single adults in our church and community through study, service and to grow them, through discipleship to do the same for others.
God gives us several ways to pray. Just as we should not live our lives in complete solitude, we should not live our prayer lives in complete solitude.
God wants us to have active prayer lives for ourselves, with others and for others.
When someone asks you to pray for them, they are putting their trust in you. Show them how important they are to you by praying.
I can't tell others about Jesus! They will laugh at me!
Have you ever felt that way? I have. If you were asked to give your testimony, could you?
Everyone has a testimony. A testimony is, simply put, a story. In relation to spreading the Good News of God, it is the story of your relationship with God. Can't tell it? Maybe you need to make sure you have that personal relationship with Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Sharing your personal testimony can be somewhat scary if you rarely or never practice it.
Can you read? Do you like to talk? Do you cook?
There are many ways you can minister to others using things you enjoy doing every day. Think of the people in the local hospitals that would love a visitor for an hour that would just listen to their story or read them part of a book or the local news. What about taking a casserole to a neighbor not because someone passed away, but because you can?
Life is not just an effort to 'get by' or 'exist'. Everything we do affects those around us either directly or indirectly. Much like the ripples created on water by a rock being dropped. As they travel across the surface, they affect everything they come in contact with and at times 'rock the boats' of others.
Have you ever tried to stop those ripples?
Once they are started, they have to be allowed to play themselves out. The more we try to stop them, the more ripples are created. Only when we admit the dropping of the rock and leave it alone do the ripples stop.
There are, however, good ripples. These are the ones created by reaching out and helping others. It may be a kind word, a smile or a pat on the back. It could also be mowing the grass of a neighbor who doesn't have the time or is elderly and struggles with the task.
